Benefits of Having a Blog on Your Real Estate Photography Website

As real estate photographers, having a website is essential for showcasing our portfolios and attracting potential clients. However, not many of us use our websites for more than displaying our portfolio and offered services.

In this article, we’ll explore the benefits of having a blog on your real estate photography website and how it can help you attract new clients.

Can Blogging Really Help Real Estate Photographers?

In short, yes, blogging really can help real estate photographers in a number of different ways.

I’m sure you’ve noticed that just about every wedding photographer has a blog tied to their website. They are constantly sharing photos of the latest wedding that they photographed in a well written blog post.

There are very good reasons why wedding photographers do this, and we as real estate photographers should take note and start to use blogging to our advantage as well.

Key Benefits of Having a Blog on Your Real Estate Website

Marketing Yourself as an Expert

By regularly sharing real estate photography related content on your blog, you can establish yourself as an expert in real estate photography and position yourself as the best option for potential clients.

Improving Your Local Search Engine Rankings

Search engines favor websites that regularly publish fresh and relevant content, so a blog can help improve your search engine rankings and make it easier for potential clients to find your website.

Additionally, if you’re writing your content with local SEO in mind, your site will rank much higher for local real estate photography searches. This is ideal since it will very likely be local agents that land on your website.

I touched on this idea of local SEO in the article Why Your Real Estate Photography Company Needs to be Listed on Google Business. Feel free to give it a read for more information.

Generating Leads and Landing More Clients

A blog can be a great way to generate leads for your business. By including calls to action in your blog posts, you can encourage readers to contact you for more information or to book a shoot.

This could work in practice by ending your blog posts with something like “if you enjoyed this post and are interested in hiring me for real estate photos, send me an email and receive 10% off your first shoot!”

Sharing More of Your Work

Your real estate website is a great way to showcase your portfolio and share your work with a wider audience. However, the truth is that not every job will produce portfolio worthy images.

That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be sharing those images though. It’s likely that you are coming out of a lot of your shoots with some high quality images of kitchens, living areas, or exterior images that look excellent.

A blog allows you to share more of your photography without necessarily including it in your professional portfolio.

Downsides of Having a Blog on Your Real Estate Photography Website

Before we discuss the downsides, it’s important to say that I fully believe the pros greatly outweigh the cons when it comes to having a blog on your real estate photography website.

The pros of utilizing a blog are nearly endless, but there are 2 major cons that come with a blog:

Time and/or Resources

Blogging requires a significant investment of time and/or resources. You’ll need to come up with ideas for blog posts, research and gather information, write the content, and then promote your blog to your audience.

This can be a time-consuming process, especially for most of us which are extremely short on free time to begin with.

So if you don’t have the time to develop and run a blog, then you might need to outsource the work. This eliminates the need to spend time, but introduces the need to spend money.

The Need for Consistency

To get the most out of your blog, it’s important to post regularly and consistently. This can be challenging if you’re struggling to find the time, which we already discussed is a major issue for real estate photographers.

Consistency doesn’t mean you need to be posting every day or even every week, but it does mean that you need to have a posting schedule and do your best to stick to it.

If you’re going to post a few article and then give up, it’s probably best to not waste your time in the first place. Start your blog with dedication and a schedule in mind.

Is a Real Estate Photography Blog Worth it?

Having a blog on your real estate photography website can be a valuable tool for attracting clients and marketing yourself.

It allows you to establish yourself as an expert in your field, improve your search engine rankings, generate leads, and share your work and portfolio with a wider audience.

However, it’s important to be aware of the time and resources that blogging requires, and to be consistent with your posting schedule.

Ultimately, the decision to have a blog on your real estate photography website will depend on your specific business goals and the resources you have available.

If you’re willing to invest the time and effort, a blog can be a great addition to your website and a powerful marketing tool for your business. It’s something that has worked for me and I highly recommend.
