Why Your Real Estate Photography Company Needs to be Listed on Google Business

Why You Need to List Your Real Estate Photography Company on Google Business

If you’re a real estate photographer, chances are you own your own business. A large percentage real estate photographers are just individual people taking on local clients and building up a nice side hustle or full-time job.

Due to this nature of the real estate photography industry, competition can be somewhat intense, especially in large or lucrative markets. That’s why now more than ever, you must list your real estate photography business on Google Business to be highly competitive.

The Importance of Local Google Searches

Google is the most visited website on the internet. That’s something that we all probably knew or don’t find that surprising. However, what you might not know is that 46% of all Google searches are looking for local information or services.

These numbers show it’s nearly guaranteed that if you aren’t listed on Google, you’re missing out on potential clients. Even if it’s only a handful of searches per month, you still aren’t even showing up as an option.

Another shocking statistic is that 97% of people will search for your business online before reaching out to you directly. If someone hears of your real estate photography business, then Google’s your business only to find nothing, that’s a major missed opportunity.

While it’s true that the higher up on Google’s search results you are, the more inquires you’ll get, it’s equally as true that if someone searches for your business and doesn’t get any results, they’re unlikely to hire you.

Additionally, searches containing the words “near me” or “close by” rose roughly 900% between the years 2018 – 2019. That means there are a lot more people searching “real estate photographer near me” than ever before.

When those “near me” searches are performed, the person searching will contact one of the businesses within the search results roughly 50% of the time. That shows serious potential for any local real estate photographer that took the time to list their business on Google.

These 4 statistics highlight the massive importance that Google plays for local businesses. If you don’t have a Google Business listing, you’re missing out on the possibilities completely.

Use Google Business to Your Advantage

Now that I’ve illustrated the weight that Google carries in regards to searches for local businesses, we can move on to how to use Google Business to your advantage.

Chances are that if you Google “real estate photographer near me” right now, you will see at least some of your competition pop up right away. However, you almost definitely won’t see all of your competition.

Over 50% of local retailers haven’t listed or claimed their business on Google yet. This means that just by simply getting your own business listed, you will have a much greater reach and online presence than some of your competition.

Knowing this means that you can tap into all the statistical advantages discussed in the last section while some of your competition won’t have that some advantage.

Signing up takes only a few minutes and a short waiting period. If your competition is too lazy to get listed or doesn’t think it will help, then you’ll have an immediate leg up on them if you spend 10 minutes filling in some information.

Common Alternative Arguments

Sometimes in our industry, there is a reluctance to really take advantage of simple marketing tactics. And that’s exactly what listing your real estate photography business on Google is, a simple marketing tactic.

Many will say that real estate photography is a referral, face-to-face type business model. This leads them to believe that they don’t need to do things like get listed on Google Business. And in a way, they’re right.

Real estate photography is a face-to-face, referral type business and you definitely don’t need to be listed on Google Business to succeed. However, there is literally no disadvantage to being listed on Google Business.

Many of the people that make this type of argument have been in the industry for a long time and have a well established business. Then there are those that don’t understand internet marketing and are too proud to admit it.

In both cases, no matter the size of your current business, being listed on Google Business will only help to grow your business larger and make your real estate photography business appear more legitimate.

Say you are a well established company and have dozens of clients that you’ve worked with for years… If you simply list your business and ask those clients for 5 star Google reviews, you’ll shoot up the search results page very quickly which will absolutely result in new clients reaching out to you directly.

Longterm Advantages of Being Listed on Google Business

In the short term, you likely won’t see a ton of new clients simply from listing real estate photography company on Google business.

You will show up as an option, appear more legitimate, and have a presence on the most visited site on the web, but it will take some time before the clients really start to flow in.

All of those are reasons enough to make sure you get listed. However, when you look at the long term prospects of what having a great Google Business listing can do for your company, the possibilities are very enticing.

Inbound marketing is a marketing tactic that aims to have possible clients reaching out to you instead of you trying to find clients. When done correctly, you will only need to answer your phone and greet new clients.

With enough time and enough positive Google reviews, your real estate photography company will start to rank higher than your competition. This means that you’ll be getting the calls and emails from new clients.
