Using Facebook Ads for Real Estate Photography is easier and more Cost effective than you might think

Below you’ll find a quick guide to using Facebook Ads to get clients specifically for Real Estate Photography. You’ll find that using Facebook Ads is easier and cheaper than you may have originally thought. It’s an extremely effective way to get your name and portfolio in front of local realtors.

Here’s a guide to get you quickly up and running Facebook Ads for real estate photography:

Table of Contents

Create a Facebook Business Page

The first thing you’ll need, if you don’t already have one, is a Facebook Business Page. Facebook has an easy to follow setup guide that will get you past this first step. Once you’ve created a Facebook Business Page you can start using Facebook Ads to get clients.

Even if you aren’t planning to run Facebook Ads, you’ll want to make sure you have a Facebook Business Page simply for the social media presence.

Using Facebook Business Manager

If you haven’t already set up a Facebook Business Manager account, you can set one up by going to the Business Manager Homepage and clicking Create an Account. Once you’ve typed in all your business information, click Add Page. Select your Facebook account, then on the next page, select Add Ad Account. If you don’t already have one, click Create Ad Account and then type in all your business information.

You now have access to Facebook Business Manager and your account is ready to start running Facebook Ads!

Setting Up Facebook Pixel

Using Facebook Pixel is an optional part of running Facebook Ads. It’s a very helpful tracking tool that allows you to see which Facebook users are clicking through to your website. This can help you make sure that realtors are clicking through to your website and seeing your portfolio. I would recommend setting it up on your website, and luckily Facebook has a full Facebook Pixel Setup Guide to help you through the process.

You can choose to do that now, or if you want to simply get your Facebook Ads rolling as fast as possible, you can also set it up at a later date.

Create an Audience to Target

This is where you’ll set up your Facebook Ads to show up in front of realtors or real estate industry professionals. To do this, start by clicking the Menu Icon on the Facebook Business Manager Homepage, or by clicking Business Tools in the Ads Managers Page, and then selecting Audiences. You’ll want to create a Saved Audience so you can choose this audience again the next time you put together a Facebook Ad.

Name the saved audience something like “Local Real Estate Industry”. From here, you’ll want to figure out your local market area. Choose the area that you want to work in only. If you only want to work within a 25 mile radius of your home, then that’s what you’ll type into the map.

Next, you can work on Detailed Targeting. Since you’ve already narrowed it down to your local market, the next step is to target specific demographics and interests. This is where you can get a little creative. Here is a list of all the detailed targeting phrases I type in:

  • Interests: Interior design, Home staging, Real estate license, Real estate development, Real estate investing, Real estate entrepreneur
  • Job title: Real Estate Agent/Broker, Real estate broker, Licensed Real Estate Broker, Real Estate Manager, Real Estate Associate or Realtor

Finally, I limit the age range to 25 – 65. For my target market, I find that this mix of detailed targeting allows me to get my website in front of a sizable amount of people in the real estate industry.

Create a Facebook Ad

Finally, it’s time to create a Facebook ad! Luckily for us Real Estate Photographers, we have a lot of very good content at our disposal. Start by opening the Ads Manager and under the Campaigns tab, click Create. You’ll then choose an objective for this ad. When first getting started, it’s best to choose Brand Awareness.

Now, you’re going to Create the Ad Set by using the saved audience that you created earlier. Next you’ll Edit Placements, which you can just leave as the recommended All Devices.

Then comes the decision of how much you’re going to be spending on Facebook ads. Believe it or not, you don’t need to spend too much money to run an effective campaign. To start, keep it on the lower side. An amount as low as $15-20 a week is a good place to start.

Finally, all you need to do is design an ad. This is the easy part since you already have amazing content. Choose an image from your portfolio that you think really represents your best work, but will also look great for marketing purposes.

I personally like to choose either an exterior, or a fairly simple interior. I prefer my Facebook ads to not have anything too busy going on in the photo since I’ll also want the viewer paying attention to the text.

Once you’ve chosen the photo all thats left to do is type up the ad copy. Keep this simple to start. Something as easy as “High quality images for all your real estate needs. Call * Company Name * today.”

Running Facebook Ads is somewhat of a process of trail and error. Some photos/videos will do better than others. Some detailed targeting will need to be changed as time goes on. Once you find a combination that works for your ads, run with it until the results stop coming in.
